Local Government

The City of Manitou Springs has a Mayor-Council form of government. Six elected Council members serve staggered 4-year terms, and the mayor is elected for a 2-year term. Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at Manitou Springs City Hall, 606 Manitou Avenue. Informal work sessions are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Special sessions or work sessions are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Manitou Springs is a home rule municipality. In general, municipal home rule is premised on the public policy that citizens of a city or town in Colorado should have the right to decide how their local government should be organized and how local problems should be solved.
