Where is Cedar Heights?

Cedar Heights is located in the foothills on the western side of El Paso County. This neighborhood is in the West Colorado Springs real estate area. This is an exclusive, gated community that backs into Garden of the Gods. The views of the surrounding mountains and city lights are breathtaking. Construction on Cedar Heights Colorado Springs began in the early 1980s and continues today. Stonebridge at Cedar Heights patio homes were established in 1994. The Cedar Heights community is only minutes away from the City of Colorado Springs and historical Manitou Springs, but is immersed in a rich, natural environment.

What recreation facilities and activities does Cedar Heights offer?

Activities in this area include hiking, mountain biking, and watching the abundant wildlife in the area. In addition, the activities and recreational amenities of Manitou Springs are easily accessible. Manitou Springs offers a variety of outdoor activities, from hiking to mountain biking, fishing, and more. There are more than15 hiking trails within a 15-minute vicinity. Manitou is also home to the Cog Railway, which will take you to the top of our local fourteener, Pikes Peak. If you are up for a challenge, you can hike the Manitou Incline, which is a one-mile hike that gains more than 2,000 feet in elevation. Manitou Springs also has an indoor pool, eclectic arcade and historic spa building.

Students attend Manitou Springs School District 14 and Manitou Springs High School. Manitou Springs School District 14 serves approximately 1510 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. They offer a “small town” educational environment and are driven by “Relationships, Rigor and Opportunity.” In addition to a challenging academic curriculum, all of the schools offer comprehensive art, physical education, music, computer technology, special education, and gifted and talented instruction. The class sizes in the elementary schools typically range from 18-25 students. Average middle school class size is 24 students, and average high school class size is 22 students.

What security is offered at Cedar Heights?

Cedar Heights is a guarded community.  Besides welcoming guests, the security officers help keep Cedar Heights safe and secure.  They patrol the community, plow and sand the streets during the winter, receive and handle packages and special delivery mail at the request of residents, and centrally monitor home security systems.  They work in concert with the City of Colorado Springs police and fire departments to make the community as safe as possible.

Cedar Heights averages more than 250 days of sunshine each year. The climate is mild with very low humidity. Typically, the coldest months are January and February, and the hottest month is July. Snowstorms are followed by sunshine, which means the snow melts immediately. Cedar Heights also has “chinook winds” (that means “snow eater” in Eskimo) in the winter and spring that can take our temperature up to 60 degrees instantly.

Summer (June 22 – September 23)
Warm mornings with afternoon rain showers. Average high temperatures: July – 80 degrees, August – 80 degrees, September – 70 degrees.

 

Fall (September 24 – December 21)
Warm days, cool and crisp evenings. Average snowfall: 7 inches in November. Average high temperatures: 40 – 60 degrees.
